Le Palais Benedictine

This is an incredibly beautiful baroque building. Years ago I've only seen that gorgeous staircase in pictures. I was so seduced by it that I decide I've got to see it. I wasn't disappointed. It really beautiful.

Fecamp 2

On Rue LeGrand are these gorgeous old buildings.

I think this is the Cardinal's residence. Reminds of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Munich who spent over 40 million Euros on the renovation of the Bishop's residence. I think Pope Francis removed him as Bishop.

Anyway these are old residence and its not the Cardinal's fault if he gets to stay in such palatial accomodations.

Happy thanksgiving

I am thankful for the bounty of this year. I made 4 trips abroad this year. There's no other life like mine. For that I'm truly thankful.

Fecamp

This reminds me of Port Wen of Doc Martin, the British comedy show.
I was asked, 'where are the people? I guess when we see a beach we expect it to be filled with people. This was in October, not beach weather. I arrived on a cold, wet and dark morning by taking the train and bus from Rouen. There was no one around.
I couldn't believe it when I saw these chalk cliffs, reminds me of Etretat which is just a few miles south. This is the Atlantic coast. Don't you love the ocean. I live near the Pacific ocean. I walked up the hill at the back of my house the other morning. I looked out and saw the Pacific ocean down the hill. Wow, I love where I live.

The beautiful St Etienne, it was not opened. I just wander here to take a few pictures before the real reason for my being in Fecamp opened for visitors.

 Fruit juices...apple juice most definitely.
 Pain d'spice...
Pomme or apples of Normandy...lots of them.
 escargot or snails....
 French macarons of every flavor...
 Jams....
 cheese...
 bread...
 kough ammon...
This buttery cake is the best.

The Gros Horloge

The Gros Horloge is an astronomical clock and some parts dates back to the 14th century.

Behind is an ornate arch, with carvings of Christ the lamb of God.

This leads to another old part of Rouen.

St Ouen

Another beautiful gothic church but locked and there was no way of seeing its interiors.
